Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)

PGD is a technique that was pioneered by our scientific team at Hammersmith Hospital to detect genetic disease in embryos.  This allows couples who are at risk of producing a baby with a genetic problem to commence a pregnancy knowing that the embryo is unaffected by the condition.  PGD has helped many couples who have previously lost a child through illness as such cystic fibrosis, haemophilia and Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
