Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)

For some couples in particular those with poor sperm numbers or function or those couples with a previous failed cycle or low fertilisation rate, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) maybe indicated. In this technique a single sperm is selected and injected into each of the eggs collected using specialised equipment. Only embryologists who have been trained and licensed are permitted to carry out this procedure.
